Holiday Resort Taba
A low-key, pleasant enough mid-range option with a reasonable but not extensive range of on-site facilities in a very isolated position on a good, if man-made, beach. It will suit undemanding guests looking for a quiet sea and sun break and happy to stay within the confines of the hotel apart from the odd day trip; there is nothing outside apart from miles of barren desert in either direction. Popular with Russians, Poles and Czechs. Amenities include beach volley ball, water polo, diving and watersport and a couple of small souvenir shops and a bank.
Exterior
Pleasant, curved yellow 3 to 4 storey buildings and a 2-storey modern main building; all rooms with sea-facing balconies.
Property type: Hotel
Interior
The modern spacious interior has a circular spit-level lobby with green pillars, a beige tiled floor, and small groups of tan sofas and chairs. The main buffet restaurant is simple but pleasant and there is a colouful bar and an Italian a la carte eatery.
Rooms: 172
Grounds
The large grounds have rather patchy vegetation, trees and a crazy paved pool surround with a thatched bar, ample wooden loungers and parasols; a children's pool is under shade. A long man-made sandy beach has rocky sea access, a dive centre, beach bar, wooden beds and sunshades.
Location
Area Type: At the end of a long narrow road off the main strip to Taba, in a remote beachside location surrounded by barren desert and backed by rugged mountains; no amenities or facilities in the area. A few small single storey dwellings and unfinished buildings are dotted around. Taba Heights 15 mls; Taba village 28 mls; Eilat 31 mls.
