Although accessed from the first floor reception, the majority of the facilities at the Royal Albatross Moderna are located on one lower level noting, however, that the rooms nearer to the beach are some distance away. The beach at this part of the resort is exceptionally wide and there are numerous activities available there both for adults and children. Talking of children, they have their own special buffet area with simpler choices of food in addition to a club and pool area.
Exterior
A gatehouse leads on to a driveway and car parking area which then rises, rather un-inspiringly and like a multi-storey car park ramp, up to the top floor reception area linked, by a portico to the entrance of the spa facility. There the dowdiness ends with an inspiring colonnaded and glass fronted entrance to both areas.
Property type: Hotel
Built Year: 2003
Interior
The foyer is large with polished tile flooring, a centre piece chandelier and comfortable sitting areas of leather and rattan furnishings. The lobby bar has wrought iron chairs and deep cushions with bar stools looking on to the mirrored drink display and marble effect counter. A mall downstairs contains the main open-plan Red Sea buffet restaurant with the same polished tile effect flooring, square tables and blue wrought iron cushioned chairs. The Toscani Italian a-la-carte is also on this level with well spaced round tables and dark wood, light cushioned seating. Both venues have panoramic windows overlooking the terrace where there is an afternoon live crepe service and special children's buffet. The health club has a jacuzzi, sauna and massage services and, adjacent to this, there is a table tennis and pool table area.
Rooms: 436
Grounds
The 436 rooms are situated in three 2 and 3-storey pink and balconied blocks reaching towards the beach and bordering the 2 lagoon swimming pools, one of which incorporates a lazy river joining a children's section. Wooden sun-loungers and mattresses are readily available both by the pools and on the wide coarse sand beach where they are positioned within wicker wind breaks under attractive parasols. The seafood a-la-carte restaurant is located overlooking the beach, close to the 500m jetty that leads out from the shallow waters at the shore to the depths beyond. There is a sand court for games such as beach volley ball and an outlet for bicycle and moped hire.
