Reef Oasis Beach Resort

There are resorts and there are resorts within a resort and this falls into the latter category. Whether young or old, with children or without, there is a myriad of facilities and activities to appeal to everyone.

Although quite a steep and long walk down to the beach at the foot of the cliff, there are enough pools to cause a diversion. The more recently built area close to the entrance is set in a quieter environment and, although distances appear a long walk, there are buggies running around the grounds.

Exterior

A gatehouse stands off the quiet road that runs beside the aqua park marking the start of a 800m cobbled brick palm-lined drive that leads up through the grounds. The boundary of the property is marked by a wall beyond which some of the rooms are located as well as a feature pool.

The drive continues past blocks of rooms to a central cross-road style set down area within a village type design. There are 2 reception areas, one along the drive marking the more recent build blocks and the main building within a 2- storey block adjacent to many of the facilities.

Interior

Reception lobby stands to one corner of the main village square and is single height with polished marble flooring and mainly neutral-coloured walls apart from the wooden fronted circular reception counter. Furnishings are attractive but limited to cushioned benches around brass topped tables. An adjacent lounge has wooden framed cushioned sofas.

The main restaurant is located in a building across the square and has attractive high backed furnishings at predominantly square tables with both indoor and outdoor seating. Majority of facilities are located throughout the grounds.

Grounds

Grounds are extensive and begin with a flat plateau to the front of the resort that has clusters of 2 and 3-storey blocks of rooms many of which are laid out courtyard style overlooking pools and other water features. The grounds here are mainly laid to lawn with trees and shrubs.

Right at the front adjacent to the road is a largely lagoon shaped pool with bar. Across the drive there are tennis courts and a football pitch. Reaching deep into the resort, a winding drive passes other blocks of two 3-storey rooms down a steep hill to the cliff top restaurants and terrace.

A steep stairway leads down to the narrow stretch of beach which is furnished with sunloungers and parasols. In the middle of the resort there are numerous pools and further dining outlets as well as a children's club with separate pool.

Halfway down the hill there is a parade of souvenir style shops. Much of the focus of the resort is based around the square where there are further dining outlets and bars with indoor and outdoor seating plus the main entertainment facility.

Area Type: Situated at the most SW point of the resort in Om El Sid south of the Old Town and 30-mins by taxi to the shopping, restaurants and nightlife of Na’ama Bay to the E. Although a self-contained resort property, there are few, mainly fast food, restaurants outside the complex within a 20-min walk close to the Mercado Shopping Mall. Transfer time to Sharm el Sheikh Airport 30-mins.
