Marmara Hotel & Resort

With 150 rooms, technically the Marmara Hotel & Resort cannot be called a 'boutique hotel' yet it has that sort of feel. The rooms enclose the pool areas and the main building is attractively styled. There are good facilities for children here but the appeal seems to be more adult orientated. Although the dining area is upstairs, the management emphasises that anyone having difficulties with access will be accommodated on the ground floor with a waiter taking meal orders and serving at a specially set-up area.

Exterior

The Marmara Hotel & Resort is separated from the quiet main road by a small parking area. It has a 2-storey white-painted frontage with an arched central entrance adorned by palm trees and low shrubbery. The upstairs restaurant and bar overlook the road and the coffee shop has a large paved terrace adjoining the entrance.

Interior

The foyer features, to the right, a long wood panelled reception desk and in 2 areas, comfortable and stylish soft seating. The white marbled floor contrasts nicely with the wooden stairway leading up to the 1st-floor open planned terrace with wooden balustrade looking over the foyer. This is where the main restaurant is located with a wood panelled buffet servery, stylish high back upholstered chairs and small tables although there is an outdoor terrace too with simpler wooden and cushion chairs. Behind is the Cinzono a-la-carte restaurant and, across the landing the Babaloo Pub with its long wooden bar and high chairs. Back down stairs, there is 24 hour coffee shop with cake counter and more traditional cafe-style seating. There is also a large lounge area with soft seating, low stalls and television screen.

Grounds

The 150 rooms are located throughout the grounds in a total of thirteen 2- storey clusters with trees and low shrubbery adding to the attractive Moorish style. There are 2 lagoon style pools and further 1 for children all surrounded by a paved area with sturdy wooden sun-loungers, white mattresses and cloth parasols with a small bar serving drinks only. Tucked away in a small fountained courtyard is a charming shisha area with soft seating and billiard table. The property has a small spa offering massages and facial treatments.

Area Type: The Marmara Hotel & Resort fronts El Fanar Street, next to La Perla Hotel, 2 blocks from the eastern shore. There are public beaches within 2 km in both directions and the entertainment complex of Alf Laila Wa Laila is 500m to the south. Shops and restaurants can be found in the Old Town and around the aqua park area which are located between 2 and 3 km away while the nightlife area of Na’ama Bay is 6 km distant. A shuttle service operates regularly to the Fanara Beach and there are 3 daily shuttles to Na’ama including a last return at 1am. Transfer time to Sharm el Sheikh Airport 15 minutes.
