Hilton Sharks Bay Resort

A comfortable, well-appointed and bustling place offering the quality associated with an international brand - albeit with little local flavour - and which is a good choice for families. Mostly all-inclusive guests. Not much of a beach to speak of and the sea is suitable for snorkelling and diving rather than wading. Might be affected by noise from low flying planes from the nearby airport. On-site bank.

Interior

A bright, modern interior comprises a 3-storey wood-panelled atrium with squarish seating, a bar and cafe. A separate, airy 2-storey building houses attractive Mediterranean and buffet restaurants and a spacious terrace with wooden picnic-style tables. A spacious but bland bar furnished with cream bucket chairs is in another block.

Grounds

Well-tended gardens feature lawns, flowers and palms. A choice of 3 pools include one enclosed by accommodation buildings and a main option which boasts a bar/snack bar with a swim-up area, and is surrounded by rows of sunbeds & parasols; a large adjacent jacuzzi is under a shady wood trellis. A well-equpped childrens' area has a fun pool with a small waterslide and a rock waterfall. An informal sunset bar/snack bar overlooks a sandy terraced sun deck on which can be found a small thatched bar, loungers and wicker shades. Steep rocky steps lead down to a small rock and gravel 'beach' with a dive school; plastic jetties over the stony sea-bed provide ladder sea acess.

Area Type: At the end of a narrow road off the main through road on a site sloping down to the seashore. A few large-scale hotels are in the immediate vicinity and a small parade of basic tourist shops, but little else. Taxis outside.
