Grand Plaza Sharm El Sheikh Resort

This is a large complex with the reception area actually set some way in to the grounds passing many of the rooms on the way through. The beach is the main focus of activity set way beyond a central water feature throughout the gardens overlooked by rooms. The Grand Plaza Resort attracts couples and families and there are the 2 distinct areas best described as upper, in front of reception, and lower, stecthing down to the sea.

Exterior

An imposing high arch and red paved road marks the entrance of the property off the main road from which a long drive leads down, passing blocks of rooms, to a single-storey main entrance fronted by a circular manicured garden feature. A large portico covers a marble-effect set-down area and, to the right, one of the restaurants offers indoor and terrace dining serving, in particular, the rooms that stand to the fore of the reception area.

Interior

An extensive foyer hall has a white marble-effect floor and clusters of high-backed soft furnishings with, to the fore, a long check-in desk. At the very back of this main building is a square shaped bar which overlooks a sunken atrium housing a dining area and there are doors opening on to a terrace with views over the central lazy-river style grounds. The buffet restaurant at the front of the main building has sturdy wooden furnishings with indoor and outdoor dining.

Grounds

The grounds between the road and main building house some of the 547 rooms in 2 and 3-storey terracotta-coloured blocks with the remaining majority located to the beachside of the property surrounding the main water features. The paved areas nearest to reception are surrounded by neat lawns planted with palms and, although the lazy-river is an attractive feature, there are no sun-lounger facilities. Both the main pool and the wide sandy beach have adequate sun-loungers and parasols. A second freeform pool is located in front of reception where activities are held including water-aerobics. The property also has a further buffet restaurant as well as Italian, Seafood and Oriental a-la-carte venues.

Area Type: The Grand Plaza Resort enjoys a prominent beachside location at the beginning of the main spread of resort properties in Nabq Bay. The shops, markets and bars of the resort are spread along 3 km while the nightlife area of Na’ama Bay is 13 km away. There is a scruffy public beach area between the property and the Magic Life Hotel and the Radisson SAS Golden Resort borders its other side. Transfer time to Sharm el Sheikh Airport 15 minutes.
