Fantazia

Although the front area of the Fantazia is quite unattractive and the foyer hall lacks ambience, the rooms have a good view over the pool-deck area, at times shaded by the imposing backdrop cliff face. Tidy gardens border the property's path towards the beach but as it turns towards the lane, it becomes untidy although the walk to the shared beach is worthwhile. Recognising the official category of this establishment, it's location in Na'ama Bay is advantageous.

Exterior

The lane leading down to the Fantazia is rather un-inspiring with potholes, private residences, unfinished buildings and the back of the neighbouring establishment. The front of the property could be mistaken for a superstore with 12 wide steps leading up to the front door and glass fronted shops on either side. Above the shops, on a storey high facade is the hotel name and logo.

Interior

The main foyer hall is large with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the pool area which has a more attractive look. The marble-effect floor, white painted walls and sparse furnishings create a rather empty ambience. To the left, past the shop, is a long reception desk which faces a seating area with wrought iron and cushioned chairs and sofas as well as a large TV screen. At the other end, there is the main wood-panelled bar area with high wrought iron bar chairs. Leading from the foyer is the restaurant with the same marbled-effect floor and white walls but with more comfortable, wooden and cushioned furnishings. There is an attractive outdoor dining area, with wicker furniture, on a terrace overlooking the pool.

Grounds

The 107 bedrooms are situated in a 3-storey block with balconies over which clinging bougainvillea creating a more cheerful appearance. The swimming pool deck is located down a flight of stairs and the paved area surrounding the lagoon-shaped pool is furnished with plastic sun-loungers and mattresses. There is a pool bar and the whole area is backed by a cliff upon which stands the Sofitel Hotel. A lawned area with shrubs to the side of the hotel, adjacent to the pool, has a path leading towards the beach which becomes a little untidy as it nears and turns to join the lane. The Fantazia has an agreement to use the beach facilities of the Sonesta Beach Resort where there are sun-loungers with mattresses, parasols as well as a bar offering a drink and snack service. There is also an attractive raised 2 m wide beach terrace laid out with sun-loungers.

Area Type: The Fantazia is located along a narrow lane than runs off the main road running through Na’ama Bay behind the Sonesta Beach Resort, it’s nearest neighbour, and it is overlooked by the Sofitel Beach Resort perched on the cliff above. The lane joins the eastern end of the esplanade with the main attractions of Na’ama Bay centre a 15 minute stroll away. Transfer time to Sharm el Sheikh Airport 15 minutes.
