Al Diwan Resort
A rather appealing little option with some genuine Arabic flavour but very few facilities and situated in an isolated spot a taxi ride from the beach. Mostly all-inclusive guests. The limited eating options and smallness of the site may feel a bit claustrophobic for stays longer than a week. Suits undemanding types on a budget looking for a simple pool-based break in the sun.

A compact but pleasant interior which has a beige vaulted lobby with a carved wooden ceiling and a huge metal chandelier; an inviting split-level bar has vibrant orange walls, low dark wood sofas and a pool table The vaulted buffet restaurant is small and simple. Gift shop minimarket.

A compact red-tiled pool area has wooden beds under wicker shades and is edged wih colourful plants. A small thatched bar and a barbeque grill provide drinks and snacks; a Bedouin tent is a shady place to relax.

Area Type: At the end of a private drive off the airport road, in an isolated desert area near Sharks Bay with a few local homes and unfinished buildings scattered around. A modest supermarket, chemist and a couple of small hotels are nearby.
