Al Bostan

4 Star

This property has a number of appealing features so it's as well to cover off a negative at the start! The restaurant and small afternoon tea area lack the atmosphere and style that can be seen elsewhere in the establishment. Positives include an elegant reception area and attractive blocks of rooms overlooking the pool-deck. The beach, as is typical along Na'ama Bay, can feel crammed but there are plenty of sun-loungers and the shisha tent has to be seen. Of course, it's location on the promenade ensures the nightlife of the resort can be easily accessed.

Exterior

The Al Bostan is set back from the road separated by strip of lawn with some shrubs and a parallel driveway with a small parking area and an imposing white frontage with a 2-storey glass entrance. The property also has a rear entrance on the promenade from where a passage leads up between a shop and the restaurant to the pool area.

Property type: Hotel

Storeys: 2

Built Year: 1998

Interior

The foyer is large and bright with marble-effect floor and columns, a small reception area to the left and a bazaar style shop next to that. The central area is comfortably furnished with rugs, large sofas and high backed chairs giving an aire of antiquity. The restaurant is situated towards the rear of the hotel and is housed in a glass fronted building with rather bulky wooden furniture including slatted wooden white chairs. Adjoining this is a small, barely furnished lounge where afternoon tea and cakes are served. Across the passage, there is a small spa facility including massage tables and a Jacuzzi bath.

Rooms: 120

Grounds

The 120 rooms are housed in 2-storey white blocks surrounding the pool from the reception building to the restaurant. Although much of the area is tiled, plants add attractive colouring and there is a central pagoda linked by a foot bridge. There is a lively pool bar by the small children's pool. The walk along the open passage between the restaurant and spa leads to the Na’ama Bay promenade across which the property has a private sandy beach area. As is typical of the private beaches, the area is very compact with wooden sun-loungers and blue plastic mattresses shaded by parasols. There is a dive stand on the beach as well as a small bar area, children's climbing frame and an artificial jetty. For a real bohemian experience, the property has a shisha area reached via a separate promenade entrance with a mass of low traditional sofa square seating, pipes, drinks and aquariums.

Location

Area Type: The Al Bostan Hotel is situated on the beachside of the road running past Na’ama Bay. It is nestled between the Marriott Beach Resort and Days Inn Gaffy Resort. Across the road there are a number of shops although the main spread of Na’ama Bay is a 15 minute stroll along the esplanade. Transfer time to Sharm el Sheikh Airport 15 minutes.
