Exterior

A large arched gateway adjacent to a row of shops marks the entrance with a driveway continuing through attractive gardens, 300m to the main set down area in front of the single-storey white-facaded main building. The forecourt is paved, trailing plants hang from the roof top and high palms add to the visual appeal.

Interior

The large, single height lobby is fronted by a long reception counter and houses, on polished marble flooring, clusters of wicker framed chairs and sofas on oriental rugs. Beneath low arches in striped terracotta and white shades, there is a sunken coffee shop lounge with a corridor to the side leading past integral boutiques and a bank.

Under a further arch directly from the lobby, adjacent to a large open stairway, there is the main bar with wooden servery and more soft seating. The main restaurant is located beyond this with panoramic windows overlooking the grounds and onto the river.

Grounds

Extensive mainly lawned grounds. A large swimming pool deck is furnished with sunloungers and parasols with an integral snack bar with patio style tables and chairs. There is also a large kids play area and pool with waterslides.

An enormous amphitheatre with tiered seating and entertainment stage stands to the northern side of the property. At the riverfront, there is a mooring for feluccas and a terrace backed by an a-la-carte restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Rooms mainly located in 2-storey blocks to the southern end of the grounds, each separated by neat lawns and flower beds. Pathways lead between and under the blocks leading to the fitness room, squash court and sauna, each housed in individual blocks. Tennis courts and a football pitch are located towards the boundary.

Area Type: Located at Karnak, 15 mls north of the city and standing in extensive grounds at the end of a long drive on the east bank of the river. At the entrance, there is a parade of bazaar like shops. A shuttle bus operates to the city, where all other facilities are located, in addition to readily available taxis and regular minibuses that can be waved down on the street.
