Sunrise Select Mamlouk Palace Resort & Spa

Apart from the architectural style, the main difference between the Sunrise Mamlouk Palace and it's sister property next door is that here there is a more limited 'all-inclusive' arrangement although still offering a comprehensive range of dining and drinking venues. Most of the facilities are accessible from a single-level but requests for a room close to the restaurant should be made for those not relishing a 500m walk for meals every day!

Exterior

A semi-circular drive rises from the road to a Moorish style portico topped with an onion dome. In front, there are slopping gardens through which 25 wide steps reach down to a parking area. The single-storey double-height main building features arched windows.

Interior

The large square foyer is separated by pillared sections each containing different styles of furnishings and all complimented by the dark wood Moorish design. The patterned marble floor and yellow and grey decor helps create a cooling ambience which is continued in to the lobby bar which has sturdy wooden and cushioned furnishing. Down a level to the ground floor is the huge main restaurant which has a large hexagonal central servery with live cooking stations and a yellow-gold decor with red window alcoves looking out over the grounds.

Grounds

The grounds stretch right down to the beach with the 530 rooms situated in parallel 3-storey blocks either side with attractive lattice brickwork and balconies on the 2nd floor. Through the centre of the property run the swimming pools which are well furnished with sun-loungers and parasols. Wooden scaffolding type structures in keeping with the general style house a pool bar and shisha corner. An Asian a-la-carte restaurant is located in a pagoda type building by the beach edge and the property also has a tex-mex restaurant. On the wide, sandy beach there are lines of strung plastic sun-loungers, palm-frond parasols and wicker wind-breaks. A 2-storey wellness-centre is located between the main buildings here and the Sunrise Garden Resort next door.

Area Type: The Sunrise Mamlouk Palace enjoys a prominent position between, to the north, Sunrise Crystal Bay Resort and, to the south, Sunrise Garden Beach Resort 22 kilometres from the centre of Hurghada. Standing back from the Sahl Hasheeh Highway just after the Makadi Bay fork, the property faces the Sunrise Mall offering a wide range of bazaar type shops. There is a shuttle service, for a small charge, in to the centre of Hurghada.. Transfer time to Hurghada Airport 15 minutes.
