Oberoi Sahl Hasheesh
The Oberoi Sahl Hasheeh has an isolated and elegant ambience due both to it's location and elaborate design. The rooms are placed some way from main facilities taking advantage of the expansive beach front it enjoys. Restaurant and bar facilities are located on the same level as the pool and spa but the distance to rooms should be considered for those less mobile. Children are welcomed at the property and there are some facilities but it is more suited to couples looking for a relaxing escape.
Exterior
From a gated entrance, a long drive leads off the highway across undeveloped land to a circular set-down area surrounded by flowering plants and shrubs in front of the main building. Reflecting a Moorish style, a large white portico covers the 7 wide steps to the glass fronted entrance which is topped by a traditional cooling dome.

Interior
Inside, the Moorish theme continues with a central foyer of grey marble-effect patterned floor and ornately decorated arches. There are clusters of soft seating, a large centre-piece water feature and individual desks for check-in as opposed to a counter. On the same floor, there is a shop selling high quality clothing and a library area with high-backed armchairs, comfortable sofas, large TV and a sideboard holding books in different languages. Reached by lift or stairs, the ground floor contains the main buffet restaurant with well-spaced sturdy furnishings and panoramic windows over the pool terrace. The adjacent main bar has polished wooden floors, wicker furnishings and high bar chairs in front of a well-stocked mirror-backed drink display. There is also the Zaafran oriental restaurant decorated in cool blues and pastel brown shades.

Grounds
Doors lead on to a terrace adjacent to the spa centre and pool deck where there is a domed pergola style restaurant and bar with terrace seating and wooden sun-loungers surrounded by carefully manicured gardens. The extensive 48 acres of grounds are apparent from here with only 102 suites attractively located off a path edged one side by neat lawns and the other by sand leading down to the 850m stretch of wide beach. Here, also, there are wooden sun-loungers topped with white mattresses shaded by cloth windbreaks and wooden parasols.

Area Type: The Oberoi Sahl Hasheeh stands at the furthest end of New Hurghada, 30 km from the centre of the Old Town. The nearest shops are to be found in the area developed in front of the Hilton Hurghada Long Beach Resort 3 km away with further mall shopping available opposite the stretch of properties closest to the Makadi Bay fork 8 km away. There is a privately operated shuttle, payable locally, in to the Old Town. Transfer time to Hurghada 20 minutes.
