Intercontinental Hurghada Resort & Casino

5 Star

The property has an advantage, when compared with similar style complexes of New Hurghada, of being within a relatively short distance of the shops and nightlife of the resort. The conference suite is quite prominent at the fore of the hotel yet, within the grounds, there is a holiday feel as opposed to convention atmosphere. The beach here is wide and well-serviced with eating and drinking venues while the wellness-centre has a good range of facilities. The suitability will appeal to all ages and, with the exception of the rooms, most of the facilities are one-level.

Exterior

A short palm-lined and lawn-edged drive leads past the casino on the left and disco, wellness centre, tennis courts and horse-riding area to the right to a circular set-down area. The Moorish-style pink 2-storey main building has a large glass fronted entrance area and a separate lobby for the adjoining conference suite.

Property type: Hotel

Storeys: 5

Built Year: 1998

Interior

The foyer has ornate pillars topped with plant pots, grey marble-effect flooring and a corridor leading to the conference suite. An arch leads through to the main reception area which appears darker and therefore cooler with marble-effect flooring and clusters of soft sofas and chairs. The Palms Brasserie is located on this level and has a bright, spacious ambience with wooden, cushioned furnishings. A lobby bar and shops are located here and a water-feature walkway leading to some of the rooms. Most of the 252 bedrooms are located in the 5-storey wings that are shaped, to afford best views, in a giant figure 2. There is also the Al Dente Italian a-la-carte restaurant with indoor and terrace seating and a Captain’s Bar which, with its wooden panelling and brass trim, has the feel of a typical yachting club.

Rooms: 252

Grounds

In the neat lawn grounds, there are six 2-storey villas which are at the northern end of the property. The large swimming pool is terraced with plenty of sturdy plastic sun-loungers with mattresses and fixed wooden parasols. La Terrace pool restaurant serves snacks and drinks. The beach is long, wide and sandy with neat rows of sun-loungers, parasols and cloth wind-breaks. Al Buhraya beach restaurant serves snacks and drinks and, down by the marina area, the Fish Market a-la-carte restaurant has large windows looking over the large private yachts and dive boats. At the front of the property, the separate 2-storey wellness-centre offers spa, massage and gymnasium facilities as well as billiards. The children's club and playground is located adjacent to this facility.
