Hor Palace Hotel

One of the older properties on this stretch of modern developments to the S of the main town, showing its age with unkempt gardens and scruffy surrounds to the pool and beach.



Quite a long walk to the private stretch of beach but it does benefit from having shops and restaurants within the vicinity. Although it does have a children’s playground, this property is suited to adults looking for a base close to attractions.

Standing 20m back from the cobbled streets, this single-storey, sloping roof, orange facaded property has rectangular windows set in bay like features overlooking the pavement. A semicircular portico extends over the glass plate doors.

Interior

The circular lobby is topped by a large dome feature over an internal fountain garden. The light-coloured tiled flooring extends to the long reception counter standing at one end while, to the other, is the lobby bar which has carpeted flooring and both high backed barstools and cushioned bench like seating. A couple of wooden framed doors open onto the paved terrace behind the lobby.

Grounds

A cobbled lane, bordered by wide pavement and shrubberies is overlooked by the first of the 3-storey wings of accommodation which have a stone clad frontage shaded by trees. The accommodation style changes midway through the resort where, beyond a crossroad type division, there are clusters of single-storey chalet like rooms with furnished terraces and wooden patio doors.



The cobbled path continues to the swimming pool deck which is surrounded by a tiled terrace and furnished with plastic sunloungers and mainly fixed awning type parasols. The main restaurant is situated in a hexagonal building overlooking this area and has high backed wooden framed chairs at predominantly square tables on tiled flooring.



Passing an unkempt children's playground area, the path continues 400m across the lagoon to the sandy beach. Here there are wooden framed sunloungers and wooden topped parasols on the man-made beach. Backed by trees, there is a snack bar facility and watersports centre.

Area Type: Standing on the Sheraton Road within a line of resort style hotels to the S of Sakkala but still within the main spread of the city closer to the airport. Shops in the immediate vicinity with a greater choice in Sakkala, 10-mins taxi. Transfer to Hurghada Airport 15-mins.
