The Grand Hotel
Opinion
Benefitting from a beach side location in a modern area just south of the town and with shops and restaurants within easy reach. Slightly jaded look to the accommodation wings but these surround attractively landscaped grounds and good pools. It is suited to couples and families seeking a less crowded environment offered by other properties.
Exterior
Standing back from the cobbled streets, across a wide pavement, the 2-storey facade of this property is fronted by a large angular portico which extends across the raised the steps in front of the main entrance. Extending some way along the street, the colouring of the building is of different pastel hues with rectangle windows shaded by high palm trees.

Within the lobby there is an abundance of greenery both across the floors, where there are attractive internal shrubberies and from the 2 tiered floors from which there are hanging plants. An impressive pyramid shaped glass roof throws light across the slate-coloured polished flooring which is furnished with clusters of patio style tables and chairs, cushioned bench like seats and clusters of armchairs and sofas.
Many of the facilities are located in the main building including the Royal Palm restaurant which has attractive wicker backed chairs at predominantly rectangular tables. Grounds
Extensive grounds are bordered, on the southern perimeter, by 3 wings of 2-storey high accommodation blocks with a 3-storey wing on the northern perimeter. In between these, there are 2 J-shaped and 2 U-shaped 3-storey high accommodation blocks weaving their way through the attractive gardens.
The main pool is situated in front of the lobby building and is surrounded by a broad terrace furnished with sunloungers and parasols. The gardens are almost park-like with neatly tended lawns, shrubberies and lines of trees.
Grid-like networks of paths criss-cross their way across the grounds and a further 2 blocks of accommodation where there is the second large pool deck. Fronting the beach is the blue Horizon restaurant which has an al fresco ambience though covered by a trellis type roof.
On either side of the broad, long sandy beach there are other facilities including a juice bar, basketball court, a watersports centre and massage facilities. Sunloungers and parasols lie on the beach where there is also a small waterslide feature.
