Opinion

Simple boutique-style property worthy of a higher star rating based on style rather than exclusions of some of the bedroom utilities. The restaurant is smart but basic but meets the requirements of the dive market clientele it attracts.

The pool, a necessity as the beach opposite is not suitable for swimming, is more fitting to a higher category but is reached by a number of steps.

Exterior

A high stone wall separates the grounds from the quiet road in which a parallel driveway leads up to the stone terraced area under this 2-storey, white facaded property. Steps lead up to a paved and furnished terrace in front of pointed arched windows and doors of the ground-floor. The upper-floor windows stand back a little bit with a balcony facing the sea. The main doorway is set within one of the arches.

Interior

Small reception lobby has a wooden fronted counter set into an alcove and a deep red tiled floor. To one side there is a small lounge of bench like seating and an archway to the rear leading to the restaurant which extends to the front. Furnishings here comprise of metal framed, woven seated chairs at round glass topped tables with further seating on the terrace outside. There is also a bar servery.

Grounds

Rooms are located above the main building and in a 2-storey wing extending along the borders of the garden. The upper-floors have balconies while those on the ground-floor have balustrade stairways leading up to a terrace. A shisha lounge in a sunken area at the front of the garden has a crazy paving style walkway leading deeper into the tropically landscaped grounds.

A series of steps leads past some boulders and more stonewalling to the pool deck set in an elevated position overlooked by the mountains behind. The pool has a wide terrace furnished with wooden framed sunloungers with mattresses and wooden topped parasols and is served by a bar.

Area Type: Located at the eastern end of town across road from rocky beach and with mountain backdrop. Lively bar attracts other divers with other venues in the town centre 2km where there are a few shops and restaurants. Transfer to Sharm el Sheikh Airport 50-mins, Taba Airport 50-mins
