Sheraton Cairo Hotel, Towers and Casino
Opinion
A comfortable but formulaic upmarket option offering all the comforts associated with an international brand but lacking in charm or character and looking rather dated inside and out. A wide variety of eating venues of varying cuisines are on offer along with a good range of facilities. The central downtown location is convenient for visiting the city's attractions. Caters to the business crowd and is a popular choice for conference and meetings.
Exterior
Twin 26-storey cream-concrete towers with an 8-storey section, set over a vast 3-storey main building; most rooms have a balcony.
Property type: Hotel
Storeys: 26
Interior
A huge and anonymous interior with plenty of obligatory beige marble and chandeliers. The main lobby is on the third floor and has a circular lounge and tea room. A selection of 6 eateries include a flashy main buffet restaurant, contemporary Japanese, casual Italian, smart Lebanese and a charmless Egyptian cafe. The 26-floor Morrocan restaurant has a floor show and stunning views over the city. Bars on offer are a bland lobby option and a small, functional wood-clad pub.
Rooms: 650
Grounds
The pool deck is on the 2nd floor between accommodation buildings (actually the 5th floor) and has an astroturf surround, plenty of loungers and a bar/restaurant. Suffers traffic noise.
Location
Area Type: In a busy location on the West bank in the downtown area beside the Nile. Plenty of small shops and similar hotels in the vicinity.
