Nuweiba
Originally a kibbutz style village when area was governed by Israel prior to handover of Sinai territory in 1989, the town and port has grown predominantly as an administration centre for the region. 4km to the S of town, it has a major port for cargo ships and ferry across to Jordan with the land between developed for tourism with some large hotel complexes.
To the N of town centre is Tarabeen, originally a Bedouin settlement which traditionally attracts budget travellers to many campsites and where a beach bohemian ambience prevails on the wide beach. In Nuweihah, there are few facilities apart from general stores and market stands with any selection of restaurants, usually at the budget end of the scale, located at Tarabeen.
The town is best reached from Taba Airport to the N although transfers can be arranged from Sharm el Sheikh.
