Dahab

Originally a fishing village, this resort retains much of its traditions and appearance but has seen tourism development initially started by its proximity to dive sites. The town has little or nothing to offer the inquisitive visitor with any shopping facilities located at the hotels or parades nearby.

The majority of the properties are large and self-contained fronting the wide sandy bay. The small town of Asilah adjoins the resort and this is particular popular with divers with a few small hotels, lodgings and campsites. The one street town has a few shops and bars plus local restaurants.

It is best reached from Sharm el Sheikh from where a well maintained, empty highway runs through barren desert location.

There is a high threat from terrorism in Egypt; Foreign Office advisory notices offer the latest official advice and should be consulted before booking.
